Ari (UK)

Ari is an author site. She writes mostly science fiction and has some great tips for understanding how to show in your writing vs. telling.

Grammarly

Online grammar checker.

Hemingway App

Use this online app to check your grammar. Just clear the screen and enter your own text. 

Owl Perdue

A must have resource for all writers. Owl Perdue is the most up to date style resource used by writers and scholars.

NaNo WriMo (National Novel Writing Month)

From their website: “Writing a novel alone can be difficult, even for seasoned writers. NaNoWriMo helps you track your progress, set milestones, connect with other writers in a vast community, and participate in events that are designed to make sure you finish your novel. Oh, and best of all, it’s free!”

Now Novel

I’ve linked to their blog. which is free. There are over 400 articles for writers. They also have paid programs for new authors. 

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King (2000)
A textbook on writing by the master of horror. The book is also available on audio and e-book. 

 

Reedsy Writing APP

Free but you must either create an account or sign in with Google. They have a lot of paid services and the site is brimming with details of the books they have helped publish. The site is very “sell” oriented, but the app is free. 

Snake Nation Press

Small Press publisher in South Georgia, has a contest that pays a prize and publishes work. Long standing independent publisher. They do charge an entry fee for the contests. But accept other submissions. They are a non-profit organization since 1989. They have published hundreds of books and are known internationally.

Site is sponsored by selfpublishing.com. Provides information on publications that accept articles and stories.

Writers Write has been around almost as long as Writetimes. This section of their site provides suggestions on writing short stories.

Meeting Agenda

Our first meeting will be on December 13th at 5:00 PM on the second floor of Pacific Tower. For residents who live at 5th Ave, someone will be at the door 15 minutes before the meeting to provide building access. You will need to provide your name and apartment number.  Sorry for the inconvenience but this is for your security. Sign up sheets will be in the lobby of both buildings or you can sign up here online. You must sign up before December 11. If you forget to sign up, that’s ok, come and join us. If you live at 5th ave you will need to provide your name, ID, FOB, and your apartment number to access Pacific Tower.
